Connor's story
Connor grew up in foster care, and always knew he wanted to learn a trade.

He’s now 17, has just left school, is living in social housing and working hard to start supporting himself and continue towards his career goals.
He reluctantly rang, because he gets £70 a week to cover all his outgoings, and they just hadn’t quite covered an unexpected travel expense this week.
He hadn’t eaten properly in a couple of days, but all he asked for was toothpaste before seeing his potential boss tomorrow.
He told us he that once he gets his Construction Skills Certification card, he can start his upcoming full time job, but he sounded defeated as he told our triage team: “I keep failing my test. I failed first time by 1 mark, second time by 2 marks. So now I’ll probably fail it by 3 marks.”
Remaining hopeful in his situation is tough, but even more so on an empty stomach.
Thanks to the kindness of local people, he was provided with a box of emergency food to fill him up, and encouragement, and a listening ear. And some toothpaste!
Without food to help Connor concentrate, the odds of passing that test start stacking against him – thanks to support from people like you, we’ve been able to level the playing field and give him the fair opportunity to improve his life in the future.
