Lily's story
Lily was struggling with several health difficulties and hadn’t bathed in several weeks because she was unable to get into the bath. At first, she was reluctant to tell anyone about her difficulties, but eventually she made the brave decision to call us.

We have recently had the pleasure of supporting a lovely 78-year-old lady, who we will call Lily.
Unfortunately, Lily was struggling with several health difficulties and hadn’t bathed in several weeks because she was unable to get into the bath. At first, she was reluctant to tell anyone about her difficulties, but eventually she made the brave decision to call us.
Our advisor, Helen, visited Lily at home and found that her situation was worse than she had anticipated; her mobility was inhibiting her to the extent that she desperately needed a stairlift just to get to bed at night.
She was also having to cut back so much financially that she was regularly going back to bed during the day to avoid putting the heating on.
We don’t believe anyone should have to live alone facing these difficulties every day.
We are delighted to report that, thanks to your support, Helena was able to liaise with the housing association for a stairlift to be installed, as well as a new accessible bathroom. She was also able to secure Lily an extra £114.60 a week of Attendance Allowance and £110 a week of Pension Credit.
That is an increase of over £220 a week which will allow Lily to finally be able to afford the essentials, remain independent and keep her home warm!
The difference you have made for Lily is immeasurable; she recently told Helen, ‘I am so grateful for you, you have changed my life!’
